Earth Day Coastal Clean Up

Earthday for shoreline cleanups at Halibut Point and Coolidge Point Reservation!

The Trustees of Reservations invites you and your kids to come out to one of their most spectacular coastal reservations to celebrate Earth Day 2015. Take this opportunity to teach your children the benefits of stewardship and to have a great time as a family.  At the Coolidge Point Reservation, your help is needed cleaning up the shoreline or simply drinking in the beauty of our special places. Gloucester Pride Stride

The annual Gloucester Pride Stride raises money for Cape Ann non-profits!

The Gloucester Pride Stride is an annual fundraiser walk that helps the non-profits organizations around Cape Ann. Walkers collect sponsorships for their favorite organization, then walk the 5 mile route through downtown Gloucester starting and ending at Stage Fort Park. Come join the fun, have a healthy walk and help your community!

NU Marine Science Center Open House

N.U. Marine Science Center Open House offers educational fun for the family!

All are invited to the Northeastern University Marine Science Center Annual Open House! Come see exhibits and demonstrations related to local marine life and research going on at the MSC! Learn about the local efforts to protect our local environments. Tours around East Point and parts of the Science Center will be offered.  THE EVENT WILL PROCEED AS PLANNED ON SATURDAY.  THE FORECAST INCLUDES THE POSSIBILITY OF SHOWERS, SO PLEASE DRESS ACCORDINGLY!

CoastSweep: Plum Island

CoastSweep will be targeting Plum Island for two days in September 2013

As part of COASTSWEEP 2014, Joppa Flats Education Center and Parker River National Wildlife Refuge encourage volunteers to come to Plum Island and help in the statewide effort to keep our coastline clean. COASTSWEEP is the annual statewide cleanup of Massachusetts coastal and riverine environments. Over more than 20 years, COASTSWEEP has engaged thousands of volunteers in cleaning hundreds of miles of shoreline and riverbanks.

The Petal Pushers at Long Hill

Volunteers are needed at Long Hill and Sedgewick Gardens in Beverly!

The Trustees of Reservations need your help to prepare and plant Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens's Pick-Your-Own Flower Fields. Help us “Push the Petals” from our plants! We need your help to prepare the growing rows, plant and maintain Long Hill's Pick-Your-Own Flower Fields. We have a range of projects available for all abilities, from seeding, planting and weeding, to deadheading. Choose to come on Mondays in the summer to help cut many blooming stems to go to the Beverly Farmer’s Market or help cover shifts for the public picking of the flowers in the summer or just show up on any Thursday. There are many opportunities for many volunteers. Dig in and have fun with a great group of fellow volunteers!

Misery Loves Company--Island Tours

Tour Misery Island with the Trustees of Reservations

Venture by shuttle boat to Misery Island from Manchester Harbor. Enjoy panoramic Atlantic views, cultural ruins Quest, or relax on the beach in the Island atmosphere! Walks available along beaches, footpaths, and stairways of historic buildings. Boat shuttle leaves mainland at 10AM, leaves Misery Island at 2:30PM returns to mainland 2:50.

The Flower Project

Appleton Farms is looking for teen volunteers to help with the Flower Project!

Appleton Farms needs volunteers for their Flower Project service learning program that engages youth in the planning, growing, cutting and arranging of flowers. The program culminates as participants deliver their arrangements weekly to area nursing homes and hospice patients. The program meets weekly in July and August.  Teens are encouraged to sign up for the whole Summer season.

Maritime Gloucester High School Internships

Maritime Gloucester offers unpaid summer internships for high school students who have completed their freshman year. Interns work as interpreters in the Sea Pocket Lab Aquarium, assist in animal husbandry duties, and participate in the development and care of aquarium exhibits. Interns are also encouraged to attend weekly educational enrichment programs, field studies and career explorations.

Kids can help plant flowers and vegetables at Long Hill in Beverly MA.

The Trustees of Reservations invites kids and their families to opening day of the Children's Garden at Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens in Beverly! Kids will help plant colorful, annual flowers and organic vegetables in our magical Children's Garden. Plant one or as many as you can! You will be beautifying the garden for the season while learning how to plant. Great for families. Limited spaces available. Please pre-register.
