Annual Salem Maritime Festival

Celebrate 400 Years of Maritime History at Derby Wharf in Salem Massachusetts! V

Presented by the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, the annual Salem Maritime Festival hosts an exciting array of free family fun festivities, including live music, traditional craft demonstrations and seaport trade exhibits, story-telling, and FREE harbor tours aboard local schooners including Schooner Fame , Schooner Ardelle and Sea Shuttle's Endeavour! Celebrate four centuries of Salem maritime history on Derby Wharf in Salem!

For kids there will be radio controlled boats, face painting and kite-making and other children's activities taking place on the historic wharves. There's an entire Children's tent of fun crafts to do. Kids can also tour the tall ship Friendship, and earn Junior Ranger badges by participating in scavenger hunts and other fun activities. On the Derby Wharf beach, the Salem Sound Coastwatch will sponsor a Muck Walk. Learn about life at low tide in Salem Harbor. Boots will be provided.

There will also be lots of demonstrations and exhibitors around the park showing of traditional crafting and other skills including spinning, coopering, traditional samll craft building, model shipbuilding and more!

Tall Ship Friendship of Salem

Friendship of Salem will be open from 12pm to 4pm, with hands-on cargo loading and sail setting activities, Junior Ranger booklets, and National Park Service Rangers and Volunteers to introduce visitors to the lives of sailors, captains, and merchants in the Great Age of Sail.
